Legislation in force Drinking Water
The main regulation in force on water intended for human consumption is Royal Decree 140/2003, of February 7, which defines the sanitary criteria for the quality of drinking water. This regulation has been amended by Royal Decrees 314/2016, of July 29, and 902/2018, of July 20.
Regulation | Water qualityWater for human consumption is considered to be water for human consumption whether in its original state or after treatment, used for drinking, cooking, food preparation, personal hygiene and other domestic uses, whatever its origin and regardless of whether it is supplied to the consumer through public or private distribution networks, tanks, public or private reservoirs.
The fundamental legislation in force on water for human consumption is Royal Decree 140/2003, of February 7, establishing the sanitary criteria for the quality of water for human consumption and the Royal Decrees that modify it; Royal Decree 314/2016, Royal Decree 902/2018 and Royal Decree 3/2023.
