Emabesa reduces the pressure at several points in Benalmádena to guarantee supply
Emabesa has been forced to reduce the water pressure in several areas of the municipality in order to ensure the supply of drinking water. This measure has also allowed the pressure in the supply network to be optimized in several areas, all due to the drought affecting the whole of Andalusia, especially the province of Malaga and the Western Costa del Sol.
Monday, 25 de December de 2023 | Emabesa CommunicatesEmabesa has pointed out that Benalmádena's supply network has 80 pressure regulating valves, with diameters ranging from 50 to 300 mm. The pressure has been reduced in 45 of these valves, located in different areas of the municipality.
The areas affected by this pressure reduction include:
- Benamaina Norte
- Capellanía
- Carretera Costa del Sol
- Doña María
- El Carmen
- La Hacienda
- La Vista
- Parte Norte del Higuerón
- Puerto Marina
- Rancho Domingo
- Retamar
- Rocas Blancas
- San Fernando
- Santa Ana
- Sierrezuela
- Torremuelle
- Veracruz
- Santa Matilde
Emabesa, however, has ensured that the pressures at the supply points are adequate, avoiding problems due to lack of pressure. In addition, it is reminded of the mandatory use of an accumulator tank and a pressure group.
The aim of this measure is to reduce water losses caused by possible breakdowns in the distribution network. Emabesa insists that Benalmádena is facing a serious situation due to the drought and the restrictions imposed by the Andalusian government's decree. Since last November, Acosol has reduced the water supply to the municipality by 20%.
In addition to this measure, we will continue to collaborate with the Benalmadena Town Hall in various awareness campaigns aimed at the public to encourage an effective reduction in water consumption.
This campaign includes posters and advertisements, as well as a letter from the Mayor of Benalmadena, Juan Antonio Lara, which was sent together with the latest Emabesa bill. In said letter, the maximum collaboration of the population is requested, underlining that "the situation is starting to be very worrying and we all have to do our part."
